Ten years after the outbreak, the world has grown back over the cities and the people who survived it have organised into factions that do not all want the same thing. The demo lets you walk out of the safezone gate within minutes, and it does not stop you from walking out unprepared.

What follows is the shortest path from "I just installed this" to "I know where I am going and why".

The first hour

The opening half hour is mostly inventory management and learning what sound costs you. The beginner guide walks the sequence in the order the game presents it, including the two detours that are worth taking and the two that waste a night.

  • Beginner guide — the safezone, the starting kit, the first trader and surviving until morning.
  • Controls — default keybinds, the 1–8 hotbar rebind, and the FOV workaround for the camera bug.

Systems you will use every session

Crafting and building are not side activities. Both feed directly into whether a night goes well, and both are limited by storage long before they are limited by materials.

  • Crafting & cloth — where cloth comes from, what it is for, and why your stash fills up first.
  • Base building — what a fortified place actually needs to survive contact with the infected.
  • Infected — the enemies in the current build, including the Brute that tripled in health after the first patch.

Co-op changes the difficulty curve

Splitting roles — one player looting, one holding the wall — is the single biggest survivability gain available, and it costs nothing but a second person.

Playing with other people

Seamless co-op is not a lobby system with a player cap; the store describes support for as many players as the host machine can handle. That phrasing is doing real work.

  • Co-op & multiplayer — how a session is hosted, what the host carries and how progress behaves between nights.
